Coalition of Animal Shelters Work Together to Help Ukraine’s Displaced Pets

In the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, animal lovers around the globe—including Ukrainians themselves—are offering hope and inspiration in dark times by embracing the maxim that “action is the antidote to despair.”

For one example of courage and dedication happening in Ukraine, consider the efforts of Harmony Fund, a U.S.-based nonprofit that supports smaller animal rescue organizations around the world. The group had already been working with shelters in Ukraine for over six years when Russia launched its attack. So Laura Simpson, the founder, immediately reached out to her trusted contacts to ask, “Who do you know that needs help? What can we do for them?”
